Paul Costello is a guitarist, composer, and improviser. He has collaborated, recorded, and performed, in Europe and the UK, with musicians from the worlds of jazz, classical, folk, and world music. His solo performances defy easy categorization, weaving together the many strands of his own musical journey to create music that is beautiful, compelling, and very much his own.
He has led three Arts Council backed tours, and performed at numerous events and venues throughout his professional life, including: The International Guitar Festival of Great Britain, the Manchester International Jazz Festival, the Wigan International Jazz Festival, Wirral International Guitar Festival, and a live performance with Indian Sitar virtuoso Partha Bose on BBC Radio.
Paul has, so far, recorded four albums: 'Snaizeholme', 'Living Music', 'Mosaic', and, most recently, 'Solo Acoustic Guitar'. He is also the author of the instructional book 'Improvisation For Classical, Fingerstyle And Jazz Guitar'
He is a respected guitar tutor having, over the years taught many hundreds of students both privately, in schools, colleges, and group workshops.
Other activities have included composing, arranging, and recording, guitar, and string section accompaniments, in collaboration with songwriters, and theatre producers.
